Udupi, Nov 27: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday November 27 thanked the people, the police department and everyone involved in the success of the three-day Dharma Sansad that concluded here on Sunday November 26.
Addressing a press meet here, M B Puranik, executive president of Dharma Samsad said, "Each and every person put in efforts to ensure the success of Dharma Sansad. People from all sections of society, religions, volunteer organisations and people of Ujjain extended their wholehearted cooperation. Nearly 2,000 saints and sadhus arrived from various parts of the country. Even Tibetians and people from Kathmandu were a part of the event.
"The oceanic crowd was a testimony to the success of the historic convention. Over 1,50,000 people gathered during the three days. Participants came from Kodagu, Kasargod, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. The Ganeshotsava committee, Bhajan committee and other organizations extended their help as volunteers. There was even a Muslim volunteer group supplying water, food and hospitality. The volunteers of VHP and Bajrang Dal have worked day and night for the success of Dharma samsad," he said.
M B Puranik specially thanked the police department for ensuring that the event went on smoothly and peacefully. "The police provided additional security and took care about traffic management under the charge of superintendent of police Dr Sanjeev Patil."
Gopalji, VHP central southern region organizing secretary said, "Four major resolutions were passed in the Dharma Sansad - Construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya by 2019, cow protection, cow slaughter ban and making cow the national animal of India, equality for all where same facilities are accessible to minority and majority, and administration of temples and maths by math heads and not government.
"We were able to get accommodation for sadhus and saints for free. Nearly 75 hotels did not take a single rupee from the organizers while taking good care of them," he said.
"Over 1,50,000 people visited the 'Hindu Vaibhav' exhibition. Many Hindu swamijis and leaders could not participate as they had other committments," Gopalji said.
District VHP president Vilas Nayak and T P A Shenoy were present.
