Kundapur: Police arrest jewellery thief within two hours of theft

Kundapur, Nov 25: A thief who broke open the door of PWD quarters during broad daylight here and decamped with jewellery was arrested within two hours on Saturday, November 25.

The arrested accused is Kumbhashi resident Harish Acharya (46).

Harish broke open the house of Ravi, a resident of PWD quarters during daylight when there was nobody in the house, decamped with jewellery and fled through the back door of the house.

Prema, wife of Ravi who had gone to hospital, returned later. She found the house door open. She initially thought that the children might have opened the door but the children said that they did not have the key. She immediately checked the house with anxiety and came to know of the theft.
Prema immediately complained to the police who conducted investigations and arrested the suspect in Kundapur market. It is suspected that the theft has taken place at about 2.30 pm. The suspect was arrested within two hours.

Police have recovered the jewellery. They have continued investigations to find out if the suspect is involved in more cases.

Police inspector Manjappa, crime PSI Devaraj, PSI Harish and staff participated in the operation.

Harish Acharya is being questioned at Kundapur police station.

    Thief caught easily so police got reward, if no complain was received then police would have received share from thief. Can't say .. anything can happen in this world.

    It is shame on your part to put the blame on Police who sincerely caught the Thief with in 2 hours.

    We should appreciate the Police in this case.

    You can't blame police every time. There are many honest Police in department.

    Thieves too know where to get a bounty ..Targets PWD qtrs ...who knows how corrupt govt sponsored thieves from PWD are.May be this guy got back the money he paid as bribe . maybe not ..I do not know ..just speculation on my part.
