Bantwal: Officials raid den at Kariyangala - confiscate 153 sand loads

Bantwal, Nov 25: Officials of geology, revenue and police departments together raided a spot in Kariyangala village in the taluk on Friday November 24. The spot is being used for storing illegally mined sand and to transport it from there.

15 loads of sand, a backhoe and a tipper loaded with sand, totally valued at Rs 36.78 lac were seized on the occasion. The operation was launched based on specific information.

A case against the owners of the land in question as well as of the tipper and backhoe was registered at the rural police station here.

Mines and geology department officer, Murthy B K, rural police sub-inspector here, Prasanna Kumar, policeman, Janardhan and revenue officials took part in the operation.
