Belagavi: Delegation meets CM - demands conversion of Christian Council into board

Belagavi, Nov 25: On behalf of various Christian organizations, members of the state committee of Christian Forum for Human Rights met Karnataka chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah, on Friday November 24 here. They were led by government chief whip in the legislative council, Ivan D'Souza. They urged the CM to convert Karnataka Christian Development Committee into board.

Over 1,500 pastors and important leaders came together under the banner of Karnataka Christians Rights Organization in the city and met the chief minister. They handed over a memorandum to the chief minister.

The CM, who received the memorandum, assured to take a suitable decision on their demand during the next budget. He also asked the concerned to make best use of grants released for the welfare of Christian community.

The delegation also urged the CM to set aside at least seven seats for members of Christian community in the assembly elections in 2018 towards empowering Christian community politically. The CM promised to discuss the issue to top leaders of the party and take steps accordingly.

State president of the organization, pastor Rajashekhar, secretary and member of Christian Development Committee, Prashanth Jathanna, Anand, treasurer and Christian Development Committee member, Peter Danti, members of the committee Mariappa, Yesudas, pastor Joseph Jamakhandi, pastor Johnson Kotian and several other leaders were
