Ivanka and PM Modi to dine at world's largest dining table at Falaknuma Palace

Hyderabad, Nov 25 (DHNS): It will be a picture perfect dinner for only a select few with Ivanka Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a magnificent 101-seat dining table, on November 28 on the sidelines of the Global Economic Summit 2017.

While only 101 most chosen will have their dinner under the crystal chandeliers where the choicest food is being served, nearly 2000-3000 other delegates will dine at the grand old lawns of the scorpion-shaped Falaknuma Palace, located on a hillock in the old city. The 101-seat dining hall has unique features, including acoustics that allow each word spoken to be heard by the other person who might be sitting at the far end of the table.

Confirming the finer points of the two-day visit of Ivanka, daughter of US President Donald Trump, City Police Commissioner Srinivasa Rao on Friday spoke of another real challenge - ferrying all the delegates from the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) near Madapur to Falaknuma Palace in a time gap of one-and-a-half hours. "The prime minister will spend two hours at the palace and leave for Shamshabad airport, from where he will fly to New Delhi," he said, adding that a 2,000-strong police contingent will secure the city from November 28 to 30.

Commenting on Ivanka's itinerary, which has been kept under wraps for security reasons, he said that she will attend a few sessions at the GES on Novembe 29 morning. "Ivanka, who will be arriving at Shamshabad airport on Nov 28, is expected to stay at Westin near Hi-tech city and will fly back to USA on 29 night at 9.30pm. We are not sure if she will be attending the dinner hosted by the Telangana government at the Rani Mahal Lawns of the Golconda fort," he said.

Curbs on residents

The three commissionerates here that have very specific roles to play during the visit of the PM and Ivanka, have held yet another round of talks with the US Secret Service, Union Home Ministry and SPG at the Falaknuma Palace to chalk out coordination issues. The residents' living near Falaknuma and Golconda have been requested by the police not to venture out during the declared timings to avoid traffic snarls. Police will have to block the roads that lead to Falaknuma on 28 night as more than 40 to 50, mostly multi-axle buses, will be ferrying the delegates to and from the Palace located in the walled city.

High profile meetings of world leaders are normally characterised with photo ops, exchange of antiques and mundane statements that are more generic in nature and less specific on the issues at the moment. Major bilateral decisions economic or diplomatic are rarely announced on such occasions.
Narendra Modi-Donald Trump meet was not very different. Both patted each other on the back like ‘true friends’ and said goodbye in style, leaving the media guessing whether this was the beginning of a Modi-Obama like bonhomie or a one-night stand.
In the seemingly budding camaraderie, it was Trump who made a direct demand on the concerns of his side, by asking for the removal of trade barriers to US firms, while Modi missed the opportunity to raise key issues such as H-1B visa restrictions, which have become a pain for the Indian IT-sector.

The recent restrictions on work permits imposed by Trump administration has been a big concern for the NRIs in that country. Trump’s policy on foreign workers isn’t anything new. Modi had enough time to work on a prompt way to appropriately pitch this issue during the high-profile meet. But he missed the chance.
A Congressional committee in the US has passed a legislation that proposes to hike the minimum salary of H-1B holders from $60,000 to $90,000. While the move has led to worries about the impact on the Indian IT services industry, experts believe it will be a blessing in disguise for Indian techies working in the US.
The Protect and Grow American Jobs Act, which was passed by the House Judiciary Committee, will also ensure that no American is replaced in order to bring in talent from overseas on an H-1B visa.
“Hunger deaths, farmers shootings, agri distress, job losses, lowest credit ratings, rising prices, plunging exports, flawed GST, demonetisation disaster, stagnant growth are the real indices to measure it,” .
Taj Mahal, Padmavati and now Ivanka visit is nothing but another distraction from the real fact.

The real problem why he can't discuss any issues with a foreigner is that Narendra Bhai struggles with simple English.

No one outside the Hindi belt/Gujarat can understand what Narendra Bhai says when he tries English.

So, the dinner with Trump's daughter is to show to his followers some photos with a gori who would be his grand-daughter's age. No benefit to India at all.

An imagine the crores spent on her security and five-star suite! But India has no money for basic services to its citizens!

I wonder if Trump would have organised a grand dinner for Modi's wife if she went to USA for a private gathering...

Even if he did so, would he have given press releases to tell the world what a special leader he is for dining with Modi's wife.

But then Trump has some class.

Nizams worked under Mughals and when Aurangazeb became weak, the Hyderabad was given to be governed by Nizams. Throughout, Nizams were friends of British, hence, for India, they are supposed to be worse than Mughals. BJP has problems with Taj Mahal and such places but want Nizams palace to give royal treatment to Ivanka. Isn't it going against your attitude Modi ? Anukoola Shastra.

Sir, Nizamas may have different plans for kingsly state but history of India has to something share which many Indians don't even know.
After emerging victorious in the war against Pakistan in 1965, India faced threat from its other neighbour China. In that situation the then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri started collecting funds to combat any potential threat. He set up National Defence Fund for the purpose. The government of India appealed to Rajas to help in the difficult situation but they didn’t come up to the expectations.

Then Lal Bahadur Shastri headed for Hyderabad; he knew that Huzoor Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan would not disappoint Indian government. The PM visited Hyderabad and requested the Nizam to contribute generously to the National Defence Fund. Without a second thought, Mir Osman Ali announced that he would contribute five tonnes of gold for National Defence Fund. The announcement left the people present their flabbergasted. But Asif Jah VII created a record by making biggest ever contribution by any individual or organisation in India that remains unsurpassed till today. In terms of today’s gold price this donation translates to a whopping Rs 1,500 to 1600 crore.
The prejudiced and communal leaders of BJP who demand to celebrate liberation day on September 17 but forgotten Osman Ali Khan donated 5 tonnes of gold to Govt. of India which saved India from bankrupt.
