Beltangady: Minor differences lead to tipper driver's murder by friend

Beltangady, Nov 25: A tipper driver was killed by his own friend on frivolous grounds at Silk Road between Gerukatte and the town on Friday November 24.

The victim was Pradeep (38) who lived at Shivaji Nagar near Havyaka Bhavana in Guruvayanakere. Dinesh Poojary (35) from Battemaru near Gerukatte has been accused of committing this heinous act.

For the road work between Uppinangady and Guruvayanakere, crushed stones have been stored near Silk Road. Harish, living near the high school at Guruvayanakere, and Pradeep were friends. Harish also happens to be a tipper driver. Pradeep worked for the same contractor but was entrusted work elsewhere. He had taken off on Friday to meet his friend, Harish.

Pradeep and Dinesh had some sort of enmity over minor issues. After Harish and Pradeep had lunch at Gerukatte and arrived at Silk Road where the loading work was going on, Dinesh arrived there in an auto rickshaw, it is gathered. Thereafter, quarrel broke out between Dinesh on one side and Harish as well as Pradeep on the other. In an angry mood, Dinesh picked the jack lever from his vehicle and hit Pradeep with it in the head region. Dinesh and Harish then shifted seriously injured Pradeep to hospital.

After Pradeep was pronounced dead, Dinesh disappeared from the scene, reports said. Harish then transferred the body of the deceased to the government hospital.

Police personnel of the town station here have registered a case and begun investigation.
