Shivamogga: Underworld element Ravi Poojary demands Rs 25 crore from Thirthahalli jeweller

Shivamogga, Nov 24: A jeweller from Thirthahalli town has reportedly received a threat call from underworld element Ravi Poojary demanding Rs 25 crore.

The jeweller received the threat calls from Ravi Poojary at least thrice. The caller threatened the jeweller that he would kill him if Rs 25 crore is not given to him, police said.

Poojary spoke to the jeweller in Hindi for a few minutes. Initially the jeweller ignored the call. Later, a complaint was lodged with the superintendent of police (SP).

“The investigation of the calls confirmed that the caller was Ravi Poojary. A warning message has been sent to Poojary through his sister based in Delhi. The district crime branch is investigating to trace the location of the call. It was an international call,” SP Abhinav Ashok Khare said.

The police have extended protection to the family of the jeweller.

    I sincerely doubt if there someone called Ravi Poojary. Who is he....were is he...nobody has seen him, Even same picture is been circulated of him. If you observe he only calls and even police has no clue about his whereabouts. Does he really exist or a character has been created for extortion purpose. I have doubts about his existence. Big question to be asked to authorities.

    Just call any one on VOIP (voice over internet provider) from the Gulf and threaten whomever you like. Even the US can not trace the call . All the calls from Saudi and other Gulf countries to India to their dear and near one does not show who the callera and where the call is coming from.

    If you are not aware of this VOIP then do not blame RAVI POOJARY.
