Bengaluru, Nov 23: Geetanjali U (27), working for Adva Optical Networking at Kadubeesanahalli in the city jumped down from ninth floor of her office building on Wednesday November 22 and instantly lost her life. The company headquarters are at Germany.

Geetanjali had been to Goa to celebrate her birthday in the company of her parents living there. Her father is a government employee there. She had availed two days leave for the purpose. She touched down at the airport here at around 10.30 am on Wednesday and caught a city bus to reach her office. It is said that once she reached her office she headed straight to the terrace of the building. Reportedly she did not even speak to her colleagues on her arrival. The police said that the only person she spoke to that day after she came here, was her mother. She called her mother and spoke to her over cellphone about 20 minutes before she jumped to her doom at about 12.30 pm, it is learnt.

Security supervisor of the building, Umesh Das, felt that the lady would have taken the emergency exit to reach the terrace. After the lady came crashing down, he alerted her office who in turn, called the police. She was taken to Sakra Hospital at Bellandur by Flipcart ambulance, as Flipcart is located in a nearby building. Calls made to 108 were not reciprocated, it is said.

Police sub-inspector of Marathhalli station, Nagaraju, said that a case of unnatural death has been registered. He revealed that aunt of Geetanjali, Vijayalakshmi, who had accompanied her niece on the flight to the city, said that Geetanjali was normal. The police are in the dark about the reasons behind this suicide. They plan to check call records and question the lady's parents who arrived in the city on Wednesday evening in an effort to find out reasons behind this suicide.

The police investigation is hit as no CCTV cameras are installed in this building. They do not know as of now, whether Geeteanjali was unaccompanied during her visit to the terrace. Geetanjali's brother, Praful Kumar, who also travelled with her to the city with his sister, also said that Geetanjali was quite normal. He wants the police to find out what happened at the office of his sister before her death.

This is indeed shocking, an act seems to be caused by sheer desperation. No use of speculating, as human mind is intractable - as they say, even the devil does not know what humans are thinking. Geetanjali must have made up her mind after her experience in Goa or after learning her fate on her return at the office, if she did in fact visit it. RIP.
