Mangaluru, Nov 23: B M Farooq, chief general secretary of JDS, has appointed Abdul Rauf Puttige, well known entrepreneur of Mangaluru and social worker as the chief secretary of JD(S), Karnataka region. The appointment is made on orders from H D Deve Gowda, national president and H D Kumaraswamy, state president of JD(S).

Abdul Rauf Puttige joined the party at party state executive meeting held in Hubballi in the presence of Deve Gowda, H D Kumaraswamy, chief general secretary B M Farooq, Basavaraja Horatti, party MPs and MLAs.

Abdul Rauf Puttige is the managing director of popular real estate company Vishwas Bava Builders which is functioning in Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Moodbidri. He is also the founder president of Talent Research Foundation, a social service organization. It has indulged in social service and in educational sectors without discrimination based on caste and religion.

Talent Research Foundation has drawn attention with activities such as 'Marali ba shalege', (Come back to school) , self employment training, felicitation to achievers, environment protection, national integrity, goodwill programmes, women's empowerment, unique service activities and programmes to help physically challenged and widows to lead self sufficient lives. The Foundation was presented district Rajyotsava award last year.

“I have joined JD(S) by looking at the farsightedness and simple life of Deve Gowda, social concern of Kumaraswamy without any discrimination based on religion or caste. Kumaraswamy has said that 30 points pro- people programmes including recommendations of Sachar report will be implemented within ten days of joining. The commitment has attracted me to the party. I have indulged in social work along with business. I will be serving the people in politics in the leadership of Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy. B M Farooq has provided me such opportunity by admitting me in the party,” said Abdul Rauf Puttige in a statement.
