Bengaluru: Kidnap of Eshwarappa's man - charge sheet accuses Yeddyurappa's aide

Bengaluru, Nov 23: In the 720-page charge sheet filed in the seventh additional chief metropolitan magistrate's court here on Wednesday November 22, Mahalaxmi Layout station police stated that an attempt was made to kidnap Vinay, media convener of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade then guided by BJP leader, Eshwarappa, to rob a CD connected with Eshwarappa, and details of conversation Yeddyurappa's close aide, Santhosh, had with an actress.

It is gathered that the investigating team led by Anand Badiger, assistant commissioner of police of Mallelshwara sub-division, has concluded that conspiracy relating to the crime had been hatched in the cellar of Yeddyurappa's home at Dollars Colony in the city and that the accused made plans for five months before executing the kidnap plan. But at the last minute, the plan failed.

Eshwarappa, Yeddyurappa

"The CD in question contained details related to Sangolli Rayanna Brigade which had taken shape under the guidance of Eshwarappa. The abductors had suspicion that Vinay had access to the details of private conversation Santhosh had with an actress," the charge sheet claims. The police have sought court's permission to file additional charge sheet if they get access to more information on this point.

The actress had visited Yeddyurappa for inviting him for a social programme held a few months back. Santhosh had met her on this occasion and exchanged cellphone number with her. The two came closer with passage of time, and Santhosh who reserved a room in a well-known hotel during December 2016, had invited the actress there. It is said that the visit was cancelled by Santhosh at the last minute. Santhosh had suspicion that Vinay had got details of personal conversation he had with the said actress. At the same time, Sangolli Rayanna Brigade under the leadership of Eshwarappa was shaping, and this was thought to be a big political impediment on the path of Yeddyurappa's progress.

Police say that Santhosh came to know at this time that Vinay was in possession of a CD containing Brigade programmes. He decided to forcibly take away the said CD and details about actress's conversation Vinay had, from Vinay. Santhosh established contact with rowdy Prashanth and his associated through a BJP activist hailing from Kodagu named Rajendra Aras. The plan of abduction which began to take shape during January this year was executed on May 11.

The police, who have enclosed medical report, report of forensic science experts and statements made by Vinay and others in the case, said that they did not get access to the CD stated above during the investigation and that the first accused did not hand them over the cellphone. Therefore they feel the need to further investigate this issue. Yeddyurappa's personal assistant, Santhosh, has been named as first accused while the city BJP Yuva Morcha general secretary, Rajendra Aras, is the second accused. A total of 12 persons including rowdy Prashanth have been named as accused in the charge sheet.
