Bengaluru: KE, Christ University hold certificate course on entrepreneurship

Media Release

Bengaluru, Nov 23: A certificate course on entrepreneurship was held at the Christ University campus on Bannerghatta Road on Wednesday, November 22.

KE (Kanara Entrepreneurs) and Christ University conduct this elective course on Entrepreneurship annually from the past three years. This year, over 30 KE mentors conducted sessions with the students on a variety of subjects that would enable them to gain from their tremendous experience and give them that extra edge when they move into the real world of business. This course is very popular with students who register in increasing numbers every year. Certificates were issued to 52 students by Ivan Fernandes, KEL Global chairman, Dubai in the presence of a number of luminaries.

The KE Christ Entrepreneurs Course was co-ordinated by director of mentoring Ivy Saldanha from KE and Prof Sridharan and Dr Jyothi Kumar from Christ University. It is an integral part of KE’s vision to help Catholic institutions particularly budding entrepreneurs to succeed in their endeavors and the entrepreneurs’ course is a step in this direction.

One of the highlights of this year’s course, which turned out to be very popular with the students and gave them tremendous insights, was a panel discussion among 1st and 2nd generation KE members from the same family on how they had transitioned their businesses among themselves. This was particularly relevant to the Christ University students, as many of them have family businesses, and, continuing or creating a new direction of the business started by a parent or relative is a subject that is close to their heart. It is also a subject that KE is uniquely qualified to do, as it has many members who have family business and are well versed in this area of expertise.

The function was presided over by the vice-chancellor of Christ University, Col Dr Fr Thomas C Matthew who has always been a great supporter of the collaboration. Luminaries on the dais included Adrian D’Souza, president of KE Bangalore, Mark D’Souza and Anil Rego, former presidents of KE Bangalore, and Dr Jyothi Kumar, associate dean, Christ University. The vote of thanks was rendered by Prof Rashmi Rai.
