Mangaluru: Credit card hackers swindles Rs 70,000

Mangaluru, Nov 22: Miscreants reportedly hacked a credit card belonging to a person from the city and used it abroad for transactions worth Rs 70,000. Kadri (east) police station in the city has received a complaint in this connection from the card holder.

The complainant, Naga Shiroor said that his credit card was hacked and used in Britain four times since Sunday November 19 upto the total sum of Rs 70,000. He said that as soon as he received a message at 8.45 pm on Monday, he came to know about the hacking and thereafter immediately got his card cancelled. Apart from complaining to the police, he also filed a complaint with Chennai main office of City Bank.

During verification, it was revealed that the hackers drew money by using the credit card of Naga Shiroor. These drawals were made through four transactions in the name of Rehan Food Store for bills totalling to 220.06 pound sterlings, Naga Shiroor stated.
