Mangaluru, Nov 22: During the visit of top dignitaries from the country and abroad, officials and police go into a tizzy to ensure that their visit remains comfortable, uneventful, and as per protocol. However, the visit of Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, and stay overnight here, did not make any ripples.

Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was on a visit of Kollur Goddess Mookambika temple, came to the city and stayed here unnoticed. He stayed at The Gateway Hotel here, and also appreciated the regional delicacies.

After he landed at the international airport here by a Jet Airways flight from Bengaluru at 7.05 am on Tuesday, he arrived at The Gateway Hotel on Old Port Road accompanied by a convoy of 16 vehicles. After taking rest for sometime, he left for Kollur by helicopter from the airport here at 9.20 am. After paying obeisance and performing puja at Kollur temple, he returned by helicopter and reached here at 2.20 pm and stayed in the hotel. He is scheduled to leave for New Delhi on Wednesday morning.

In view of the Prime Minister's visit, an entire floor of the hotel was reserved for him. Those who were staying there were shifted to other floors, and tight security was provided to this floor. Mobile jammer was fitted and high level security was extended. Security force personnel and police could be sighted all over the hotel.
