Bengaluru: KE holds lead members' meet

Media Release

Bengaluru, Nov 21: KE lead members had a meeting on November 17 at the Grand Magrath hotel here to share ideas for the future of the organisation and share ideas with each other.

KE is a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs, professionals and others who want to start a business or network with business and professionals in the Mangalurean Catholic community. When MLA J R Lobo addressed KE members a few months ago, he said equivocally that one of his greatest regrets was that there are so few entrepreneurs in the Mangalorean Catholic community. As the MLA for Mangaluru, he gets invited to numerous functions for the non-catholic entrepreneur communities. But the Mangalurean entrepreneur meetings are few and far between and this reduces the power and prestige of the community.

In that respect, the KE Lead members who number around 38 and are the major drivers of policy and growth for the KE Platform which consists of 200 entrepreneurs and professionals, make extra efforts to highlight the achievements and contributions of Mangalurean entrepreneurs. KE Lead members mentor and help other KE members to succeed through various initiatives such as Mentoring, Outreach and Business Spotlight. KE’s effort is to also to join with other Catholic organisations to provide a unified front to the government and other entities. In this regard, KE has tied up with Rachna in Mangaluru, Dimensions in Mumbai in addition to chapters in Dubai and one coming up in New Jersey, USA.

The lead members meeting discussed various initiatives including putting a united front for the upcoming budget discussion to the government of Karnataka. Various proposals were discussed and a sub committee was formed to take this initiative forward and to research proposals in a time bound fashion so that we could present a unanimous voice for the benefit of the Kanara region to the government.

The meeting also had a spotlight session on ‘Life Story’ by fellow Lead Member, Roshan D’Silva - who shared details on his own entrepreneurial journey. Roshan is a graduate of IIT Bombay and has started multiple businesses in the telecom, business process outsourcing and payment processing areas. Most recently, in 2010, he founded Tripvillas - which is a leading platform for the rental and management of holiday homes. Roshan shared his journey and challenges in his entrepreneurial journey till date as well as the exciting phase that Tripvillas is going through at the moment as staying in holiday homes becomes more popular and mainstream.

The evening ended with networking and dinner at the Grand Magrath Hotel.
