Mangaluru, Nov 20: President of Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee has appointed Lawrence D'Souza, Vamanjoor, as the general secretary of minorities committee of the district Congress.

Lawrence, who has been an active member of the district Congress, had also served the party in the past in the capacity of youth Congress secretary.

Lawrence is the president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan, which works towards teaching Konkani in schools. As member of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for the period 2014-17, he contributed immensely towards successful initiatives aimed at giving impetus to Konkani. 

He also had served as treasurer and executive committee member of Mandd Sobhann, premier cultural organization of Konkani language and culture. When working as the general secretary of Indian Catholic Youth Movement of the local diocese, he had represented Mangaluru in the World Youth Day programme at Spain.
