Kundapur, Nov 17: “The law and order in the country is of 18th century and human mentality is of 19th century. But our ambitions are of 21st century. The society is experiencing friction between these three. Law for cyber crime is not powerful enough here. Even though Supreme Court has directed the parliament to form a strong bill, it has not been done. Till then, it is inevitable to remain helpless,” said Chikkamagluru DSP K Annamalai.

He was addressing students on cyber crime at 'Cartoon Habba' held under the aegis of Vibhinna Ideas, Cartoon Kundapur and Kundapur Dr B B Hegde First Grade College at Kalamandira auditorium here on Friday, November 17.

“Everybody in the country has the freedom to speak. What one says can be opposed by another person at other end. Many times what one says may not be understood by another person. Some may not be willing to accept his views. This makes way for disturbances,” he said.

“Awareness is being created by cartoons especially about cyber space and crime,” he added.

Dr Arulkumar inaugurated the website of cartoonist Sathish Acharya. Senior reporter of new Indian Express Amith Upadhye, Dr B B Hegde and First Grade College principal Doma Chandrashekar were present.

Web designer and cartoonist Dinesh C Holla was honoured. Cartoonist Jeevan Shetty and Chandrashekar Shetty sketched cartoons on the spot. Cartoonist Sathish Acharya delivered vote of thanks. Avinash Kamath compered the programme.
