Belagavi, Nov 17: Energy minister D K Shivakumar on Friday November 17, assured the Legislative Assembly that the state government has been taking proper and sufficient steps to ensure that there are no power cuts in the coming months.

Shivakumar was replying to Aihole Duryodhan Mahalingappa from BJP.

“Measures are being put in place to ensure that the supply of power meets the demand,” said Shivakumar.

He said that at present three-phase power is being supplied to irrigation pump sets for seven hours a day and this will continue without any changes.

“The power subsidy to farmers is costing the government Rs 9,400 crore per annum,” he informed.

“43 more taluks have been identified for setting up 20 MW solar power plants taking the total number of 146 taluks. This is one of the many measures taken to ensure we have sufficient power supply,” he said.
