Bengaluru, Nov 17: Four deaths were reported on Friday, November 17 due to non-availability of medical service because of the doctor’s strike.

After the doctor’s strike started early this week and called off on Thursday, OPD services in many districts in the state have returned to normalcy. But the situation is still bad in many parts of the state including Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

On Friday, three persons including a woman died as they could not get timely medical attention in Yadagiri district. The deceased have been identified as Fathima Begum of Kadamgera, Shivaraya, both from Shahapur taluk and Ramu from M Hosalli in Yadagiri taluk.

The doctors of private hospitals in Yadagiri have continued to strike work because of which the OPD services in the district are hit badly. Many people with serious ailments from Yadagiri and other Hyderabad-Karnataka districts are going to Hyderabad in Telangana for treatment.

A girl from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district, who was suffering from kidney failure, died on Friday due to unavailability of dialysis.

Pooja from Kabaka, a B Com student at Vivekananda College, is the deceased.

On Thursday, Pooja had developed complications and was rushed to a government hospital in Puttur, where she died a day later.

Pooja could not get dialysis as usual as the private hospitals in the town were shut following the doctors' strike.

The IMA chapters of Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Dakshina Kannada and several other districts continued their strike on Friday, opposing the proposed Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Bill.
