Mangaluru: Overwhelmed by grief over child's death, woman commits suicide

Mangaluru, Nov 17: A woman who was overtaken by grief over her child's death, consumed excessive doses of medicine meant to control high blood pressure. She was admitted into a hospital thereafter but did not survive in spite of best efforts of doctors.

The deceased was Shubha (30) from Kudupu here. It is gathered that her three-year-old child had died sometime back. Shubha, who was down with grief over this tragedy, was not properly taking care of herself and was not consuming enough food. About two weeks back, she had tried to end her life by consuming over 30 blood pressure tablets found in the house together. The family members, who came to know about it, had immediately admitted her into the hospital. Although she was treated for the problem, she did not respond and lost her battle for life on Thursday November 16.
