Mangaluru, Nov 16: Bharati Defence and Infrastructure Ltd (BDIL), Mangalore yard, created history on Friday November 10, when it delivered the fifth series, out of 15 high-speed interceptors, boats to the Indian Coast Guard.

The handing over of the vessel took place in the august presence of the principal director – materials, DIG H P Singh, CGRPS Goa DIG Atul Parlikar and other senior officials of the Indian Coast Guard.

BDIL was represented by DIG (retd), Narendra Kumar, TM, chief operating officer, Vijay Pasupaty, director (E&Y), Pavithran Alokkan, president and head Shipyard, Mangalore Yard, Mahesh M N (GM), Mangalore Yard and other dignitaries.

This vessel, which is 28 meter long, is constructed of aluminium hull and weighs about 60 ton. It is designed for a speed of upto 35 knot. It is fitted with new generation Arneson Surface Drive (ASD) from Twin Disc USA, which is propelled by two engines of 1650 KW each. The vessel can accommodate 11 member crew and is used mainly for patrolling the Indian Coast.

BDIL is one of the first cases to be admitted into the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the insolvency and Bankruptcy code 2016 (IBC). The employees, workers and sub–contractors of BDIL have put in tremendous effort, under stressed financial constraints to make the project a grand success.
