Mangaluru: Hoarding of sand at Adyapady - case registered

Mangaluru, Nov 16: 13,760 metric tonne of sand valued at about Rs 50 lac was found to have been illegally stocked in a private land near the dam at Adyapady village on the outskirts of the city.

The police have registered a case against the land owner, identified as Jeevan Saldanha. The operation was conducted by officials of mines and geology department along with Bajpe police. During the raid, officials found out that no permission had been obtained for storing this sand.

Senior officer of mines and geology department, Dr Niranjan, B K Murthy, Bajpe police sub-inspector, Rajaram and others were involved in this operation. A case about the illegal sand stock was registered at Bajpe police station.
