Puttur: Private bus from Bengaluru dives into gorge - one dies, another serious

Puttur, Nov 16: In an incident which happened in the early hours of Wednesday November 15, a passenger died and one more suffered grave injuries after a night bus operated by a private bus operator met with an accident on Shiradi Ghat stretch of national highway 75.

The bus, run by Pragati Travels, was bound for Kasargod from Bengaluru. At around 3.30 am on Wednesday, the bus deviated from the road and entered a roadside gorge. In this accident, a passenger of the bus identified as Jagadish Navada (53), died on the spot. Navada, a native of Kasargod and functioning as priest of Lord Ganapati temple at Bagalukunte in Bengaluru, was bound for his native place when the tragedy occurred.

In the accident, another passenger, Arjun, suffered grievous injuries. The nature of injuries suffered by other passengers was minor, it is learnt. The bus had 20 passengers.
