Mangaluru: Prostitution racket - police raid lodge, arrest three

Mangaluru, Nov 15: Police personnel of city crime branch here succeeded in unearthing a prostitution racket being run in a residential apartment complex near Padil and arresting three persons. The lodge in question is located within Kankanady town police station limits and one of the arrested persons is said to be a procurer, the other two being customers. Two women who were forced into the trade were rescued.

The arrested men have been identified as Abdul Nassir (36), resident of Adyarpadavu, Ismail (36) from Sajipa Golipadpu and Sameer Basha (28), resident of Tanisandra.

The police had raided the apartment's complex in question located at Padil in Alape village after getting information that a few women had been kept in an aparment there for running the prostitution racket. Apart from arresting the accused, the police recovered Rs 21,750 in cash and five cellphones.

As per information collected by the police, Nassir had hired the said apartment where girls were housed. He ran a prostitution racket there and earned money. The arrested men and seized assets were handed over to Kankanady town station for further action.

The raid was conducted by CCB officials under the direction of city police commissioner, T R Suresh and guidance of deputy commissioners of police (law and order), Hanumantharaya and Uma Prshanth (crime and traffic).
