Kundapur: Murder attempt, robbery - court awards life terms to two

Kundapur, Nov 15: District and sessions court here on Monday November 13 sentenced two men accused in three separate cases of robbery and attempted murder to lifetime imprisonment and a fine of Rs 30,000 each.

Convicts Raghu and Rajesh, both residents of Kerala, had broken the bolt of a house belonging to Ramachandra, Sai Kripa at Ramamandira here on May 31, 2010. As they entered the house, a person named Vivek had tried to prevent them. But the accused had stabbed him, snatched his expensive mobile and fled.

They had later assaulted with knives and rods Santhosh Hengavalli and Ravi sleeping in buses parked near the government hospital at Burmah petrol bunk in the heart of the city and robbed cash and mobiles from them.

The two were accused in murder case also.

The Kundapur additional sessions court which conducted trial of the accused with regard to the murder of police jeep driver Sridhar Sherugar, Byndoor later that night had pronounced separate judgments already.

The then Kundapur circle inspector Madan G Gaunker had submitted a charge sheet regarding robbery and attempted murder against the accused. The versions of eleven witnesses out of 24 witnesses were heard in the trial. Government public prosecutor Prakashchandra Shetty Beloor and Harischandra Udyavar had proved the crimes of the accused. Justice Prakash Khanderi who heard the arguments sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and Rs 30,000 fine each.
