Former students of Mangalore University reunite in Dubai, pledge to strengthen alumni assn

Dubai, Nov 13: It was a joyous reunion as old students of Mangalore University College (formerly Government College) met in large numbers at Fortune grand plaza hotel, Quasis in Dubai on Friday November 10.

Dr Uday Kumar, the principal of the College appealed to the students to strengthen the alumni association chapter in the Middle East. He stated that the College is getting ready to celebrate its 150th anniversary (sesquicentinnial celebrations) in 2018. He explained the development projects planned under the leadership of prominent alumni and former chief minister of Karnataka Dr M Veerappa Moily, and the vice-chancellor of Mangalore University Prof K Byrappa.

Some of the projects were very well appreciated and the alumni assured their support. Dr Uday Kumar formed a committee, consisting of Daya Kirodian, Siraj Pajeer, Shaukath Ali, Mohammad Ali Uchil, Praveen, Ranjini Jagadish and Sadashiva Das to enroll members and strengthen the association.

Dr Rajalashmi, professor of English addressed the students and sought support to the programmes of the College.
On this occasion the newly formed alumini committee presented a memento to Dr Uday Kumar. Shaukath Ali compered the programme and Daya Kirodian proposed the vote of thanks, with special thanks conveyed to the Fortune Group chairman Praveen Shetty for providing the venue, and also to all the old students who gathered to make this event a success.

Frank Fernandis and Yogesh Shetty Jeppu were also present on the occasion.
