Bengaluru: I will not attend 'Janashirvada Yatra' if CM undertakes it - Dr G Parameshwar

Bengaluru, Nov 11: "If chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah undertakes the 'Janashirvada Yatra' as a part of the government's decision, then I will not participate in the same as president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC)," said Dr G Parameshwar at a press conference at the office of KPCC here.

He also said, "A decision will be taken within a week, to decide whether the yatra needs to be undertaken by the government or by the Congress party. If the CM decides to organize this yatra on behalf of the government, then I will not take part in the yatra. However, when the yatra will enter Tumkur district, I will participate as a Member of Legislative Council (MLC),"

He also clarified that he has never told that he will conduct a yatra as an alternative to the 'Janashirvada Yatra' of the CM.

"We have not decided that we need to undertake a yatra as an alternative to the yatras organized by BJP and JDS. There is no need to reach out to the people of the state only by conducting yatras. Already Congress has reached the voters through the programme 'Mane manege Congress.' We have planned a different strategy to woo the voters for the upcoming assembly elections," he added.

"If the CM reaches out to people explaining the achievements of the government, the leaders of the party will organize conferences at the district level and inform the people about the programmes of the Congress party. CM and I do not have any differences. Only certain individuals are trying to create a void between us," he said.
