Trump hails India at APEC, says Modi 'very successful' in bringing Indians together

Da Nang, Nov 10 (Zee News): US President Donald Trump hailed the contribution of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Indo-Pacific region. "In the broader region, countries outside APEC are also making great strides in this chapter for the Indo-Pacific," he said in a speech at the APEC CEO summit in Vietnam on Friday.

"India is celebrating its 70th anniversary. It's a sovereign democracy, as well as, think of this, one of over one billion people is the largest democracy in the world. Since India opened its economy, it has achieved astounding growth and a new world of opportunity for its expanding middle class, and Prime Minister Modi has been working to bring that vast country and all of its people together as one, and he's working at it very, very successfully indeed," he added.

He added that the US was ready to make a bilateral deal with any country in the Indo-Pacific region, but only on the basis of "mutual respect and mutual benefit".

Sending a strong message on trade, Trump said that the United States could no longer tolerate chronic trade abuses and would insist on fair and equal policies.

"When the United States enters into a trading relationship with other countries or other peoples, we will from now on expect that our partners will faithfully follow the rules," he said in the seaside resort of Danang.

"We expect that markets will be open to an equal degree on both sides and that private investment, not government planners, will direct investment," he said in a speech ahead of a summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders.

Trump arrived in Vietnam from China on the fourth leg of a 12-day trip to Asia. Redressing the balance of trade between Asia and the United States is at the centre of Trump's "America First" policy he says will protect US workers.

Trump the BIG BULLEY has NO CUE what India is made of! He has not read a single book on or about
India. India, for centuries survived as a multi-cultural society. Indians are wise, tolerant, and work/try
    hard to get along.
India had great leaders - they united the country rather than DIVIDE!
Trump will do well to learn some from Gandhiji, Nehru, Indira and many, many others.
Trump has successfully divided Rich and Poor, black and white, native and foreigners in America to sing
    his slogan! America First!
America is First in Gun violence since he took office!
Modi is done with Gujarat - now he is working on entire nation! Just like Trump (remember the BIG HUG?) modi will divide and rule for ever!

Just a return favor for placing those multibillion dollar defense equipment orders and buying oil/gas from Uncle Sam for the first time when there's glut in the market. One can expect more such pats on the back in the future for the same reason

No US President is impeached in US history so far( Since 1776 !!!)....no party in US had two third majority in US Senate and US Congress...

This is your wishful thinking...never going to happen...forget about a year, never ever...

I know Trump currently has 37-39% popularity in US....this is his voter base...

We all know both Hilary and Trump both had more negative votes than positive votes..Trump is not interested in taking donation from anybody including Arab Sheikhs like Hilary...that's why she was hiding her e-mails,,,and its major reason for her defeat...

ABD..Los Angeles or Bombay Slum? Your writing is on the wall. Stop fooling. By the way, on the current subject of Modi and Trump - only a crook recognizes another crook. Both are number one crooks and they have recognized each other. So, there is no surprise as both don't know how to manage the country or how to run the country. Trump has at least managed major corporations, some sent to bankruptcy but Modi only managed to fatten his business friends - that is to his credit otherwise he is no more than Feku Chaiwala - Just like you - one Feku recognizes the other Feku

Trump has even praised the president of China. Earlier he was against him. Trump is more of a business man than a political leader. So can never trust what are his intentions.

World leaders, to get their job done, make any zero into a hero. Modi may have done the same when he visited US so many times because people don't take the little knowledge (of visiting dignitaries) in history of that place seriously.

Little knowledge, certainly. Trump did not care to understand why the human rights groups had to interfere with India's affairs on various occasions in past. He just read what was given to him.
