Bengaluru beats San Francisco, Tokyo to become city with best digital environment

Bengaluru, Nov 10 (Agencies): In the race to go digital, businesses judge India’s Silicon Valley — Bengaluru — the best host among 45 cities worldwide. Business leaders in Bengaluru, expressed the highest confidence in their digital environment based on people and skills, financial environment, innovation and entrepreneurship, new technology development, and ICT infrastructure, according to a report from the Economic Intelligence Unit, published Tuesday.

“India’s cities may suffer more than most from infrastructure deficits, pollution, poverty and other ills, but when it comes to the environment for digital transformation, their executives are remarkably optimistic,” analysts led by Denis McCauley wrote in the report. “By contrast, developed cities account for eight of the 10 lowest readings in the barometer.”

San Francisco came in second followed by two other Indian cities — Mumbai and New Delhi — while Tokyo, Yokohama and Berlin brought up the rear. Most in demand are people with skills in digital security, according to the report, followed by big data analytics. These beat demand for cloud computing skills, social media, and artificial intelligence.

About 48 percent of all companies surveyed said they are willing to relocate to take advantage of a more favorable environment. Fifty-three percent of Asian firms answered this way, compared with 48 percent in the U.S., 46 percent in Australia and 42 percent in Europe.

The EIU surveyed 2,620 executives across the 45 cities in June and July, in partnership with telecommunications firm Telstra Corp.

Bengaluru has best digital environment because -
    1. People from other parts of India are relocating to Bengaluru due to nice weather.
    2. In India, importance is given to education with parents wanting their children to study well & get good marks. This has both positive & negative effects. What lacks in India is that students are more into study & less into extra curricular activities. Both should be in equal proportions in addition to good quality food. Here students are not forced to study & only those who score well just in a natural way are put into advanced placements. Here teachers encourage students to study in a normal way. For a student to perform well in studies, the environment at home, compatibility between parents ( I've explained this in my last comment about marital compatibility about height difference of husband & wife, weight increase of mother after first birth & the remedy, importance of working mother etc., ), protein rich, less fat food for the student as well as parents, PE, being in sports & music and all play their role.
    3. US outsources work to Bengaluru due to less cost & availability of talented, educated & English speaking people. Ex - Here one person living here manages around 500 - 1000 people working in India. It works for both India & US.

These are baked surveys. Bengaluru may be a IT hub for Karnataka or India. It isn't ahead of Western counterparts. Start-ups in Bengluru and other parts are just copy-paste of US.
