Mangaluru: AIMIT organises management fest ‘Insignia’

Mangaluru, Nov 10: The post graduate department of Business Administration at St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), St Aloysius College, inaugurated it’s the flagship event- A National-level Management fest, ‘Insignia’ with the theme ‘Revamping Business Strategies in VUCA World’ on the November 8 at the AIMIT, Beeri campus.

Shankar Sreekumar IRS, assistant commissioner, CGST was the chief guest for the day, while the event was presided by Fr Dionysius Vas, rector, St Aloysius Institutions.

The inauguration commenced with invoking the blessings of the almighty via a meaningful rendition sung by the college choir. The dignitaries for the day, Shankar Sreekumar IRS, Fr Dionysius Vas, Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT, dean (Academics), Dr Rowena Wright, joint faculty co-ordinators, Justine James and Dr Vasanth Naik along with the student co-ordinators, Calwin Prasanth D’Cunha and Sony Fernandes were escorted by the Management Club secretary Anup Acharya to the dais where they inaugurated the programme with the auspicious lighting of the lamp.

The dignitaries and the audience were welcomed by the dean Dr Rowena Wright. Chief guest Shankar Sreekumar IRS in his address spoke about the challenges of a VUCA world and how to tackle them by having a vision, understanding, courage and adaptability. He also emphasised on the strengths that the young India has, that is, the demographic dividend, India being the 3rd largest country in the world in terms of start-ups and strong purchasing power parity. Being an assistant commissioner of CGST, Mangaluru North Division, he also threw some light on how the rollout of GST has impacted the entire nation.

The president of the function Fr Dionysius Vas has a vision to tame the VUCA world and its complexities using the tools of critical thinking and compassionate gazing.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the student co-ordinator Sony Fernandes.

The inaugural came to an end with the rendition of the college anthem.

Around 25 colleges had taken part in the 2-day fest and the spirit of ‘Insignia’ was kept alive throughout the two days.

The valedictory programme was held on November 9. Ashok Kumar Dash, regional head, UBI was the chief guest and Fr Denzil Lobo, presided over the function. Fr Denzil Lobo, in his presidential remarks, spoke of the need to do ‘self learning’ to face the challenges of VUCA world which is going to bring in a lot of changes in the coming decade.

Christ University, Bengaluru were the overall champions and St Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), Bengaluru were the runners-up.
