Golden Jubilee of Charismatic Renewal in Catholic Church

Mangaluru, Nov 4 : Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangaluru diocese unveiled the logo of the ‘Pavitraatma Abhishekotsva 2017’ a four days state level convention to be held from November 9 to 12 at Rosario Cathedral grounds on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church.

In his address bishop said, “During the past fifty years the Catholic Church has become lively and vibrant because of the Charismatic Renewal. We can see and feel it in the way people participate in the worship and the way the people pray. A number of people are engaged in works of mercy because of the message the divine touch they have experienced because of the Renewal," 

 

 

 

"People irrespective of caste and creed have changed their life after attending Charismatic Retreats. The Charismatic Renewal is a gift given by God to the Church. Hence it is an occasion for us to thank God for the blessings He has showered on the Church and on the individuals,” bishop added. 

Fr Onil D’Souza, convener of the convention, said “Bishops, priests, sister, leaders and people from fourteen dioceses of Karnataka will be participating in the four days convention. The convention will take place in the evening from 4 pm to 8 pm. Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will inaugurate the convention on Thursday 9 November at Rosario Cathedral Grounds at 4.30 pm and offer the inaugural Holy Mass.

“Bishop Francis Serrao of Shivamogga diocese will be offering Mass on Friday 10 November, Bishop Lawrence Mukkuzhy of Belthangady will offer Mass on Saturday and Dr Bernard Moras the archbishop of Bengaluru will be offering concluding Mass on Sunday, November 12. A team of well known preachers will be preaching the word of God on all the four days. 15,000 people from Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts are expected to participate in the Convention. The Convention will take place in Kannada language. A Souvenir will be released on the last day of the convention,”

“Adequate parking arrangements have been made at Yemmekere grounds for buses, mini bus and tempo and St Anne’s school grounds for the four-wheelers and other vehicles. Two hundred volunteers will be serving at the grounds to help people to participate in the convention,:

“A three days training from November 10 to 12 will be held for the leaders from fourteen dioceses of Karnataka at St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu. Around five hundred leaders will be attending the training programme,”

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu the vicar general of the diocese, M P Noronha the diocesan pastoral parishad secretary, Fr J B Crasta, various committee members Alwyn Mascarenhas, Naveen Sequeira, Elias Coelho, Dolphy Lobo, Alwyn D’Souza, Ronald D’Souza, Bernardine Mascarenhas, Arun Saldanha, J V D’Mello, Elias Fernandes, Vincent Mascarenhas, Stanley and others were present on the occasion.

Fr Melwyn Noronha the spiritual director of Mangaluru Service Team welcomed the gathering and Arun Lobo the Chairman of Service Team proposed the vote of thanks.
