Vigilance issues: Training session for Goa officers on weekends

Panaji, Oct 31 (IANS): The Goa government officers will have to spare two hours every Saturday on rotation basis for special training sessions on Vigilance matters, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday.

"Officers may be asked to conduct evening courses for maybe two hours, and all officers can be rotated on Saturdays just to understand the nature of vigilance offences," Parrikar said at a vigilance-related event in the state Secretariat.

"It is important to train officers (about) about vigilance cases. They (vigilance cases) are of two types -- one is negligence and carelessness in taking a decision and the other corruption.

"Not all vigilance cases are about corruption. Many a time, vigilance cases come from not following a particular procedure," the Chief Minister said.
