Udupi, Oct 29: National Students Union of India (NSUI) of the district protested against Visvesvaraya Technological University demanding reintroduction of crash course system for 2014 scheme and CBCS scheme students.

Addressing the protestors at War Memorial Ground, Ajjarkad here on Saturday October 28, NSUI Udupi district president Christian Almeida stated, "We have never witnessed this kind of bad and corrupt university before. We have received our results late. There was not much time for us to read our syllabus. There were no changes in the marks even after revaluation. Many of the students did not get their results. Prof Karisiddappa vice chancellor of VTU speaks about quality education but everyone will get to know of the cheating that is going on during the evaluation process.

"It is unfortunate that students are on the streets instead of attending classes. The university has created a mess by being irresponsible and making students lose one fruitful year.

"The announcement of results for December 2016 exams was delayed by five months. Results of many students were withheld. Only hours before the exam, the revaluation results and withheld results were announced. Such uncertainties over the results increase anxiety among the students.

"Visvesvaraya Technological University's one-time exit scheme, which was introduced on September 13, brought joy for non-choice based credit system (old scheme) students, but it has left 2014 scheme and the CBCS (new scheme) students are unhappy as they are not eligible under the one-time exit scheme. Nearly 15,000 students are at home due to the year back system.

Christon further said, "The university raises the fees every year but no improvements have been seen in the system. It does not refund the revaluation amount. This is why the CBSE students have come out to demand justice.

"This move of the university is unfair as 2014 scheme students and CBCS students too struggle and face umpteen number of irregularities from the university. They too have written continuous exams. Hence, we are protesting for the Justice of 2014 scheme and CBCS scheme students demanding re-implementation of crash course by November 2. If justice is not provided to the students of 2014 scheme and CBCS scheme, NSUI will organize 'Belagavi Chalo', a state wide movement for the justice of the students.

Nikhil Devadiga, Marsh, Ashish Nittur, Pratham Palan, Shailesh Nayak and others were present.
