Mangaluru, Oct 27: The district BJP on Friday October 27 staged a protest outside the DC office here demanding the resignation of minister K J George after the CBI registered an FIR against him in connection to the alleged suicide of DySP M K Ganapathy.

Addressing the protestors, Sathyajit Suratkal, president of BJP backward classes wing said, "Finally the CBI has filed FIR against K J George over the suicide of DySP Ganapathy. The BJP has been saying right from the beginning that George was directly involved in the DySP's suicide. DySP Ganapathy in his dying declaration had clearly accused minister K J George of meting out frequent harassment. But to defend K J George, chief minister Siddaramaiah handed over the case to CID.

"Unfortunately, within three months, clean chit was given to K J George. Later, DySP Ganapathy's family knocked the doors of the Supreme Court demanding CBI probe into the matter. The CBI probe was ordered, but still the state government did not take the matter seriously. Siddaramaiah is favouring K J George in a bid to retain his seat. We demand the immediate sacking of K J George from the cabinet ministry, " he said.

Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said, "DySP Ganapathy was a sincere officer who served at different locations in Dakshina Kannada. K J George, who was held responsible for his suicide due to harassment, was saved by CM Siddaramaiah and was reinstated into the cabinet. He is very close to CM. Without George, Siddaramaiah cannot do anything. So he is supporting him. When COD investigation was started only for namesake George gave his resignation. Then the SC also stated that evidence was destroyed and later the case was handed over to the CBI. Now in the primary investigation the CBI found George's involvement in the DySP's murder and it filed FIR against him.

"Now it is clear that the DySP did not commit suicide. It was a planned murder. So we demand the resignation of K J George or else we will continue holding statewide protests demanding the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah, " he added.

"Congress is famous for rowdyism. Recently in Mangaluru airport, the two Congress leaders showed their rowdyism. Both fought in front of CM. Today Mangaluru Mayor Kavita Sanil thrashed a watchman’s family for silly reasons. Last time a local corporator and a member of congress party pelt stones on the IT office. All these show that they are ruling the people by muscle power. But we won't allow this. With the resignation of K J George, we are asking resignation of mayor also, ” he added.
