PM Modi celebrates Diwali with soldiers in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 19 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached the Gurez valley along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Diwali with the troops posted in the forward area, the Army said.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat, Northern Command chief Lt General Devraj Anbu and Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen J.S. Sandhu were also in Gurez accompanying the Prime Minister, an Army official said.

Mr. Modi had spent Diwali with the people of Kashmir in 2014 in the aftermath of the devastating floods in the Valley.

Civilians comment without understanding but the armed forces get a huge morale boost.

The armed forces are being systematically demoralised by the central government, at a time when they should be celebrated and encouraged.
Warning Chandragupta, Chanakya had said, “The day the soldier has to demand his dues will be a sad day for Magadha for then, on that day, you will have lost all moral sanction to be king.” Sadly in India, under the present government, this has become the norm. The One Rank One Pension agitation, which lasted months, led to a half-baked release.
There have been 42% more terrorism-related deaths in J&K since the Modi came to power in May 2014, compared with the last three years of the second term of the Congress-led UPA-II.
The number of security personnel killed in terrorist violence has increased 72% from 111 in the last three years of UPA-II to 191 in the BJP’s first three years, an IndiaSpend analysis of data compiled by the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), run by New Delhi-based non-profit Institute for Conflict Management, shows. The SATP compiles data on fatalities from terrorism from media reports. The data are provisional and compiled as on May 24, 2017.
The BJP had vowed to adopt a “zero tolerance” policy on terrorism in its election manifesto released on April 7, 2014.
The BJP’s 3rd year witnessed 293 terrorism-related deaths in J&K, 53% more than the 191 recorded during the 2nd year of its term. This period saw a corresponding increase of 61% in the number of security personnel killed–98 killed during the BJP’s third year.
Replying to question in Lok Sabha, minister of state for defence Subhash Bhamre said 101 soldiers, 19 airmen and five sailors committed suicide last year, with another three cases of fratricide (to kill a fellow soldier or superior) being reported from the three Services. As many as 125 military personnel took the extreme step to end their lives in 2016.
Is it worth celebrating 'Diwali',when soldiers desperately post videos on social media complaining substandard food and lack of ammunition?

MODI atleast sanctioned the same within a short period after taking in charge
Shame on ppl like you could not tolerate the PM of country spending his Deepavali
at the border with the military
Because of them only you and Mr can safely enjoy the festivals

People here in Daiji are praising our PM describing him as the best, admiring etc etc....I dont understand what great job our PM has done.
Indian PM has all the comforts in the world....he has to go and just sit in the BMW luxury car he will be taken to the Airport from there he has to just board the Luxury Aircraft....the whole aircraft is reserved for him.....after landing luxury BMW car will escort him to the site were Army is deployed.....He has to just give a speech with the branded sunglasses.....Just by doing all this people admire him.

Suspended for complaining in social media. Thank god people like you are not in military. Indians and indian military loves Modi, which is evident in soldiers gesture otherwise they would have protested when he visited them.

Very good gesture. He is also in good company with Trump who celebrated Deepavali with the Indian-Americans, according to the report in Daijiworld. Well-timed by Trump, I suppose.

Prem . Boss, he is the PM and has to do that , its not dombarata. Cong leader Rahul Khan who said that 'Ram never existed ' last year is seen running from temple to temple, singing bhajans and dancing to folk music in Gujarat to woo Hindu voters,. This is actual dombrata . His chelas call this a sign of victory in Gujarat. If he loses he will run away to Honkong for 2 months ,when his chelas figure out the reason.
