Udupi: Hit by government jeep, young pedestrian passes away

Udupi, Oct 18: A young pedestrian was killed after a government jeep knocked him down. The incident happened opposite community hall at Koppalangady near Kaup on national highway 66 on Tuesday October 17.

The deceased was Raju alias Rajesh (23), who hailed from Kolachur in Nandikoor near Padubidri.

Rajesh was walking by the side of national highway 66 on Tuesday morning. When he was passing by the Koppalangady community hall, a jeep of Karnataka Fisheries Developmen Corporation that was moving towards the town from the direction of Mangaluru hit him. Rajesh, who was thrown on to the road by the might of the jeep, sustained serious injuries. He died on the spot on account serious injuries suffered in his skull region.

Rajesh was brought up by Aithappa Poojary from Nandikoor. After studying till seventh standard, he had started to work for a hotel at Belagavi. As he later suffered from psychological disorder thereafter, he had returned home. He used to attend to odd jobs.
 
However, after his mental condition turned worse a few months back, Rajesh was seen always roaming around the roadside, it is learnt. A case about this accident was filed in Kaup police station.
