Udupi: ICYM provides golden opportunity for aspiring Konkani singers of diocese

Udupi, Oct 18: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Pangala church and St John the Evangelist Church, Pangala, on Sunday, October 29, from 1.30 pm onwards, will organise an Udupi diocesan-level inter-parish Konkani singing competition at the Church hall.

ICYM Pangala unit has been organising the competition since 14 years.

The competition will have two main categories; one for children and the other for adults; and ten subcategories.

Children are allocated two age categories, under 10, and between ages 11 and 15. Each category comprises girls' solo singing, boys' solo singing, and group singing.

Adults may contest in male solo singing, female solo singing, mixed duet and group singing.

Rules

  • One entry is allowed per parish for each sub-category, which means there can be a maximum of ten entries for the competition from one parish.
  • "Judgment will be based on the pitch and quality of voice, rhythm, tempo and general presentation and expressions," said the organizers.

Prizes

Every sub-category will have three prizes, making it 30 prizes in all. Top three teams with the highest number of prizes will get cash prizes. An award of Rs 5,555 will be given to the winning team, Rs 4,444 to the first runner-up, and Rs 3,333 to the second. Shields will also be presented.
