Yashwant Sinha calls for 'lokshakti' to check 'rajshakti'

New Delhi, Oct 16 (PTI): Former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha today once again trained his guns on the economic policies of the Narendra Modi-led government and called for 'lokshakti' (people's power) to check 'rajshakti' (government).

Speaking at an event organised by farmers' NGO Shetkari Jagar Manch at Akola in Vidarbha region, he also singled out the central government over demonetisation and implementation of GST.

Referring to socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan, Sinha appealed for a 'lok shakti' movement which will keep a check on 'raj-satta' (government).

"Let us start this lokshakti initiative from Akola," he said, adding, "As it is, we are already facing recession. And what are numbers? Numbers can prove one thing and with the same numbers, the other side can also be proven."

Training his guns on Prime Minister Modi, the BJP leader said, "The head of our government in his recent hour-long speech cited numbers to show India's progress, saying so many cars and motorcycles were sold".

"Does this mean that the country is progressing," Sinha asked, adding there was a sale, but was there any production.

"I was avoiding speaking about demonetisation (at this event) because after all what does one say about something which has failed," he said.

"When we were in the opposition, we used to allege that there were tax terrorism and 'raid raj' by the then government. I have no words to express what is going on today as terrorism is the final word," Sinha said.

GST could have been a "Good and Simple Tax" but the people in power made it a "Bad and Complicated Tax". It is the government's duty to remove anomalies in GST implementation, he said.

On his recent outburst against the government through a newspaper article, Sinha said, "People felt that I said what they feel."

"I come from Jharkhand where farmers do not commit suicide. But in the recent few days I do not know what happened that the farmers there are committing suicide," he said.

Preacher and Governor''s job seeker at 80 Is motivated by R k Singh becoming urja Mantri after criticising govt. Corrupt and shameless ,hypocrite Yashwant introduced budget proposal in 2000 to benefit own daughter in law. However, the genesis of the problem lies here: One such FII was India Fund Inc, which is headquartered in Maryland, US, with a branch office in Mauritius. And Yashwant Sinha''s daughter-in-law Punita Kumar Sinha works with India Fund Inc as the investment manager.Allegations thus started flowing thick and fast. "Sinha favoured the FIIs because his daughter-in-law worked with one," was the common refrain amongst the opposition parties.Says CPI-M spokesperson Sitaram Yechuri, "The core issue was that of the Central Board of Direct Taxes circular number 789 which stated that to prove residence in Mauritius, a letter to that effect would suffice. This was done to benefit the Sinha family.Yechuri said India Fund Inc''s 1999 annual report reveals that the company had opened a branch in Mauritius for the purpose of tax residency. "Obviously, India Fund Inc routed all its investments through Mauritius to avoid paying taxes. The assets of India Fund Inc rose from $ 300 million to $ 700 million in 1999, but the company had not paid one a single penny in tax in India. India Fund Inc did not pay any tax in the Mauritius as the island nation does not charge capital gains tax. Not did the firm have to pay tax in the United States as the profits were earned outside

Amit Shah and Modi in particular has the capacity to Win elections. They know how to invoke communal sentiments, how to use media, how to manipulate to discredit opposition, how to pocket influential babus and so on. Undoubtedly, it is a great relief for the party, but unfortunate for the country.

Country is suffering the most now because of PM Modis wrong policies and priorities. PM Modi has taken the country backwards to over 2 decades. The middle class are paying a heavy price for trusting BJP and Modi already.

The senior and founding leaders within BJP, who were silent till the other day do not have any choice, but to start grumbling. For a common BJP Bhakt it has to be a eye opener, as senior leaders of BJP are shamed none other than their own leaders, what could be the plight of a faceless bhakt sitting in a call center, trying to manipulate news to help BJP.

Tragedy with BJP is, it has numbers but these numbers do not have talent. Talented have been made to retire well in advance. This was the technique PM adapted in the very beginning for allowing him to make unilateral decisions. Note Bandi, GST and many more such R&D experiments he had executed himself for showing his Rajshakthi. All these proved to be wrong and now his retired talent pool of which Mr Sinha is veteran, is now exposing him and representing Janshakthi.

Fooling once anybody is possible but repeating the fooling again can never work. People have realized ground difficulties and all the assurances of 2014 has remained as Jumla. Economy was in good shape as an healthy egg to be hatched for giving a lively life but our so called had turned that into omelet thinking that his plan will work. Omelet is omelet and you cannot expect this to be returned to Egg for bringing life again into our shattered economy.

    Very good comment brother

In Karnataka bjp came cos of sympathy after jds played t20 innings and then not supporting bjp

In 2014 lot of homework was done by BJP by getting on roads protesting, projecting Anna, promoting fake Gujarat model, ache din, petrol n lpg price, inflation, reduced dollar rates

All people wanted was a better today n beautiful tomorrow n found faith in feku

now people realized that country is run only to benefit rich, new fake promises are provided on a day to day basis

2022 country will be this n that.... give these to rule until 2222 our gdp will be in negative
Cows will be in flats n humans in sheds
