Los Angeles: Mangalurean Dr Varadraj Prabhu bags Research Triumph Award in USA

Los Angeles, Oct 16: The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) honoured its members with various awards at annual AHIMA Triumph Awards ceremony recently in Los Angeles. Mangalurean Dr Varadraj Prabhu Gurpur won the Research Triumph Award among them.

The awards by AHIMA recognize the excellence, dedication, and service of health information management (HIM) of professionals whose work has enriched the field.

“The Triumph Awards recognize individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the health information management profession,” said AHIMA interim CEO Pamela Lane “Their work reflects the best of our industry, and AHIMA is proud to tell their stories.”

Dr Gurupur’s area of research is improving the data science and knowledge management aspects of decision support systems for healthcare and education.

He has more than 85 publications that include journal articles, papers, abstracts, published reviews, posters, book chapters and special issues with reputable journals. Dr Gurpur received his PhD in computer engineering in 2010 and a Masters of Science in Computer Science in 2005 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr Varadraj Prabhu hails from Mangaluru. He completed his schooling and engineering in Mangaluru and is an alumnus of Mangalore University.
