Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (EP)

Bantwal, Oct 15: “There is awareness being created in the district so that youth do not get attracted towards drugs and other such substances and indulge in illegal and anti social activities. In this connection complaint boxes will be provided in hostels of schools and colleges before October 25 to obtain information about drug peddlers operating near schools and colleges,” said district SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

He addressed heads of schools and colleges, principals and teachers on Saturday October 14 at a workshop held in B C Road on consumption of drugs and their ill effects.

Creation of teams:

“The required information is being collected from customers and a special team of police officers is formed for the purpose. Teachers and college lecturers who have special interest in moulding educational activities and future of students need to join hands with the police in this respect.”

Raids on petty shops suggested:

The college lecturers suggested that police who are pointing fingers only on schools and colleges should conduct raids on petty shops near schools and colleges selling cigarettes, liquor, matka, ganja and facilitate use of mobile phones. “Meetings such as these should be held once in three months and awareness must be created among people also,” they opined.

ASP Dr Arun, DCB inspector Taranath, cyber crime SI Umesh Kumar, rural police station inspector Prasanna, traffic police station inspector Ellappa and others were present.
