Bengaluru: Denigration of PM - three complaints filed against Baig, minister apologizes

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 15: BJP, taking umbrage at the use of obscene words against Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi, by urban development minister, Roshan Baig, filed police complaint on Saturday October 14, seeking action against the minister.

MLAs, B N Vijaya Kumar, Dr C N Ashwathnarayan, BJP city unit president, Sadashiva, former MLC, Ashwathnarayan, and president of city BJP unit, Saptagiri Gowda, registered this complaint against the minister in Malleshwaram police station here.

Narendra Modi and Roshan Baig

"Unable to tolerate the fast-spreading popularity of the PM, Roshan Baig used defamatory and obscene words against him at the meeting of Congress activists held on October 3. The utterances of the minister have undermined the stature and honour of Narendra Modi. The minister, who used the objectionable words in Tamil, transgressed limits of freedom of speech. Therefore, criminal case under section 499 of Indian Penal Code should be registered against him," they demanded in the complaint.

In the meanwhile, president of Bantwal block BJP, B Devadas Shetty, filed similar complaint in Bantwal town police station. Another complaint was given by BJP minority morcha president, Ashraf Kasile, in Sullia police station on Saturday.

State BJP president, Yeddyurappa, when criticizing Baig for the language he used against the PM, also objected to the manner in which chief minister, Siddaramaiah, addressed the union petroleum minister in singular for suggesting to bring down GST on petroleum products towards reducing oil prices. Former chief minister, Jagadish Shettar, said that Baig, who has given proof about his culture, is unfit to become a legislator. He warned that unless Baig is unseated from the ministry, his party will undertake state-wide protest.

Baig apologizes

Succumbing to pressure from various quarters and taking note of brickbats his foul language has been attracting from people from different fields, minister, Roshan Baig, took to Twitter to tender an apology for his action. "If anyone is hurt by my words, I seek apologies from them. I do not have disrespect for anyone and have high regard for the PM," he said in his tweet. "I did not use that language purposefully. I do not have hold on Tamil language. I referred to words used by merchants in respect to demonetization exercise and introduction of GST regime. People from BJP have unnecessarily created controversy on this issue by targetting me," he said.

telling something about a leader or person using obscene words/bad lanuage and begging for apology has become common among the politicians now. They should desist from doinfg so. let them use their commonsense before uttering words in public. By doing so they degrade themselves.

Shrikanth, How ignorant can you get?
Do you not see the newspapers and how common citizens out there are suffering?
    You call that 70 years?
How many jobs have been lost post the demonetisation. Textile industry has still not recovered from the demonisation. Most of them who were laid off are still not employed and those textile shops which were closed have still not opened.
You have taken suicidal steps without any backup plans for saving the economy. How can you call such "Inishitatives" good for the economy?
Easy for me to be a keyboard warrior defending those who are unemployed but can you imagine their state? Will you feed their family?

Look at UP. Incidents are STILL HAPPENING AT Gorakhpur. It happened last week and people like you are ignorant of that fact. 64 childrens dead in 4 days(Again).

The Centre has failed in so many ways. They are saving cows and killing human beings.

typing comment on keyboard very easy dear, how u forgotten children are died in our karnataka.
bcoz of u ppl only we r in this situation- don't act too smart like blaming one another.

and about demonetization- we are not faced any problem, and show me the one factory or company they are suffering by this method.

the ideology behind this demonetization- is to make the economy on line and it will take time to grow up( because of 65 years of ruled party).

and more-ever , just think and compare about the rules japan vs india

First we need to teach “Tolerance and Respect” definition and meaning to these foul mouth Netas…. Just because he is a Minister that also from minority community doesn’t mean that he can say whatever he wants to say…. If he wants to say something…..there are hundred Netas available in his own adopted Party for thousand reasons. This is nothing but mere frustration coming out from their venomous body because their days in power are counted now!!!

    WELL DONE 👍

THIS IS HOW THE PEOPLE WHO SPEAK BELOW BELT LEVEL SHOULD BE TREATED.

INSTEAD OF COUNTERING OPPOSITION WITH FACTS, IF SOMEONE GOES TO THE EXTENT OF INSULTING SOMEBODY'S MOTHER, THEN THEY SHOULDN'T BE GIVEN ANY PLACE IN CIVIL SOCIETY AND JAIL IS THE BETTER PLACE FOR THEM.
