Bengaluru, Oct 14: With heavy and continuous rainfall in Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka during the last few days leading to several deaths in the city and in the districts besides causing heavy damage, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is believed to have sought a report from the State Government on the situation.

According to informed sources in the party, Rahul Gandhi is believed to have expressed concern over the spate of deaths in the city due to potholes and other traffic hazards, which have been made worse due to the heavy and continuous downpour, which has been resulting in prime time coverage in the television and print media.

Rahul Gandhi is said to have telephoned Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday and obtained information on the deaths occurred due to pathetic condition of City roads and open drainages.

It may be recalled that AICC General Secretary in-charge for Karnataka, K C Venugopal, is said to have taken Bengaluru Urban Development Minister K J George to task recently for laxity in repairing city’s roads and had demanded that the State Government should take up repairs of the deteriorating roads.

Siddaramaiah had been holding regular meeting with his ministers and officials besides visiting the rain-affected areas frequently during the last few days.

If Rahul interference in Karnataka than it is difficult for Siddaramayya to perform his duties. What he will do with the report?

Both George and Siddu are uneless ministers. Sending cleaners to Singapore to learn how the roads are cleant doesn't serve the purpose if basic necessities are not kept in order which you don't have to learn from any country.

Jossey, Isnt this a bit ironic? Is the PM to be blamed even for a clogged drain in the state? Or is it sour grapes or insecurity?
