When mermaid came to Bengaluru: Artist turns pothole into colourful pool to protest

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 13: Bengaluru-based art designer Baadal Nanjundaswamy is famous for protesting against civic issues using art. On Friday October 13, he transformed a muddy waterlogged pothole near Cubbon Park Junction area into a turquoise coloured pool.

What was even more eye-catching was actress Sonu Gowda dressed as mermaid, sitting next to the pool.

"Some five deaths have taken place because of potholes. Potholes are a problem. I am just highlighting the issue. I want the government to fix the problem," Baadal told media persons.

Baadal’s artwork comes shortly after CM Siddaramaiah asked BBMP to fix over 15,000 potholes in the city.

Baadal has often hit headlines with his creative art works. In 2015, he created a crocodile pond from a pothole on Sulthanpalya Main Road and placed a fake crocodile in it. This got BBMP to address the issue the very same day.

Not just that, he had also gone on a spree of drawing Bakasuras around open manholes, which too caught the limelight.

The talented artist has been the art director for popular movies Lucia, Lifeu Ishtene, Prakruthi and Police Quarter among others.

15000 potholes & CONGRESS , JDS looting BBMP. It's better to Privatize BBMP to maintain the city infrastructure.
Where are the so called Intellectuals, Social activists, Film Heroes, Writers, Media?.
Don't you think these 5 deaths due to Government negligence? BBMP is directly responsible for these deaths.
Where are the protests? Where are the awards? Come on... Please return the prize money with interest ( keep the useless award with you) , so that some potholes can be repaired & save lives.

    Of course they are dangerous...
But most deaths caused are due to utter negligence of the riders...
In Manipal the great sultan killed his small baby due to sudden swearing...
In Bangalore the guy took sudden turn...
Why sudden when you can be slow???
No one can blame these deaths for road conditions...
It is monsoon... So ride carefully...

    SUDDEN TURN 🤔🤔🤔🤔

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TAKING ?

WHEN POOR CITIZEN OF BENGALURU IS RIDING TWO WHEELER AND SUDDENLY HE FINDS BIG POND (IT WOULD BE UNFAIR TO CALL IT POTHOLE) WHICH IS BIGGER THAN HIS TWO WHEELER, WHAT ELSE HE CAN DO OTHER THAN TAKING SUDDEN TURN???

YOU ARE GIVING CLEAN CHIT TO CONGI GOVT WHICH DRASTICALLY FAILED TO ENSURE SAFETY OF IT'S CITIZENS IN STATE ?

IF YOU FEEL I AM EXAGGERATING, PLEASE COME TO BENGALURU AND RIDE A TWO WHEELER WITHOUT TAKING "SUDDEN TURN".
