Bengaluru: Rahul asks state Congress leaders not to show laxity

Bengaluru, Oct 13 (DHNS): Tipped to take over as Congress president soon, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday told party leaders from Karnataka not to show any laxity in preparing for the high-stakes Assembly polls next year which would set the tone for the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

Rahul met top leaders from the state including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president G Parameshwara, working presidents Dinesh Gundu Rao and S R Patil besides veterans Mallikarjun Kharge and M Veerappa Moily.

Picking up a leaf from the BJP strategy, Rahul asked the state leaders to focus on booth- level committees and directed them to reach out to every voter in every household across the state.

State leaders told Rahul that booth-level committees have been formed in 51,000 of the total 54,000 booths across the state.

AICC general secretary in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka, K C Venugopal has been asked to keep track of the developments and ensure that there is no laxity in the implementation of the election strategy.

With the economic slowdown and faulty implementation of the GST exposing the chinks in the BJP’s armour, the Congress has sensed an opportunity to better its performance in the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka.

Emerging out of the meeting, Parameshwara told reporters that the “roadmap” for the 2018 Assembly elections was discussed in detail. On the issue of delay in distribution of tickets to candidates, he said, “We discussed all this in the meeting. This is part of our strategy. We do it as per our convenience”.

He said there were no differences between him and Siddaramaiah and the 2018 Assembly polls will be contested under Siddaramaiah’s leadership.

India has suffered a lot because of him. He has wiped India’s opposition party completely. An able opposition party would have kept the government on its feet.

I am sure you will agree with this Af,
Politicians should work for the people and the country. The one that we saw in 2014 was a sign that all talks and no action lead INC to where they are today. If the same thing happens in the next couple of years BJP will have a similar fate.

    Jossy
Now Ur position is to enjoy the victory of Muncipal election as there is
no chance of Khangress winning any State Assembly election in near future
    and also 2019 Lokasabha election
Just check the record BJP had no/nil seats in that muncipality but now they have 4
    seats
Where is the question of "wipe out " ? It is wipe out of AIMIM and not BJP
Hope you open Ur ears and eyes before commenting

So far congress is strong in Karnataka and if it loses its base here then it wont be bcoz of nonperformance of siddhu but only due to Rahul - this man is not fit to be in politics. In fact good for nothing type person. I wonder why he is sticking to power when he is not at all capable of that post. Mark my words he is going to ruin congress like mulayam and his son who lost in Bihar due to family fighting. Replace Shashi tharoor or sindya in his place then no one can defeat congress. We need youngstersto bring change but not useless ones.

    Sir,

You have every right to express your opinions.

But the 'post' Mr Gandhi is holding is within a private organisation. A political party is a private organisation.

It is entirely upto the members of that private organisation to choose/accept whoever they want as leaders.

The non-member public and their opinions do not count in such organisations.
