Kasargod, Oct 10: Kasargod station police arrested two youths for vehicle thefts, robbery in trains, pushing train passengers out of the trains and several other cases.

They have been identified as Mustafa (22), resident of Talangere and Zubair (22), resident of Deli.

Police were inspecting vehicles in the outskirts of the city at Adkathbail national highway on October 10 when they asked two youths on a bike to stop. Police suspected the youths when they failed to give proper replies to their inquiries and subjected them to further questioning.

Police came to know while questioning that the young men were involved in several criminal activities.

They are suspected of robbing Rs twenty thousand and a mobile phone from a passenger on Ernakulam – Kayamkulam train and pushing the passenger out from the train.

A case against them is pending in Kariyakulangara police station. They are said to be involved in theft of 24 bikes, three auto-rickshaw and 16 mobile phones.

The suspects while questioning have confessed that they have stolen electric cables from a house at Chimbarika and other valuables from two houses at Bendichal here.

They are suspected to be involved in the theft of Rs 1.35 lacs cash from a scooter of Talangere Malik hospital staff parked in hospital premises in 2015. The cash was kept under the seat of the scooter.

They have reportedly stolen bikes from Kasargod, Mangaluru and Kozhikode. Though police had registered cases against them, they were not traceable.
