Bengaluru: PU student found dead in college hostel toilet

Bengaluru, Oct 9 (DHNS): A 17-year-old pre-university student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a toilet in his college hostel on Saturday evening.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Sarthak Puranik, a resident of Dharwad. He was studying in the Sri Chaitanya PU College in Bellandur for the past two years and was staying in the hostel.

According to the police, the incident, which took place between 7.30 pm and 8 pm on Saturday, came to light when the student failed to return from the washroom after several hours. On realising that the toilet was locked from the inside, the other hostel residents peeped through the window and found that Puranik had collapsed and was unconscious.

They informed the police, who broke open the door and rushed Puranik to a hospital, but the doctors declared him brought dead. “The cause of death is unclear and we are waiting for the postmortem report,” a police officer said.

The body was handed over to Puranik’sparents after the postmortem on Sunday.

“We havecertain doubts regarding the boy’s death as it doesnot look like a suicide. The doctors who conducted the postmortem have collected viscera samples from the body and have sent it to the forensic science laboratory for examination. We can’t come to a conclusion without the postmortem and FSL reports. Puranik’s parents have not made any allegations against anybody,” an investigating officer said.

Children should grow with parents at least one if not possible with both.
Parents loose daily connection by putting in hostel as it looks like reduces their responsibility but consequences are more dangerous which we read nowadays in daily news.

RIP child!! as psalmist clearly mention in psalms, My days, all of them were written in Your book; the days, they were formed when there was not one of them (Psalm 139:16)therefore we must accept anything happens from God!!no doctor or any other gods man can give you a single second more or less. its already written in Gods book. no matter whatever religion you belong to!

RIP, very sad to know this.
The possible reason may be a brain hemorrhage, recently my son felt heavy head ache early morning and even he went to bath room to pour water on his head, then he collapsed after coming out. Fortunately, I was with him and took immediately to hospital and diagnosed for brain hemorrhage. With God's grace he survived with great difficulty. He was very active boy and no symptoms of such things. Later diagnosed that hemorrhage was due to Arteriovenous malfunction (AVM). I don't know if it is possible to diagnose for hemorrhage if already life is lost.

Ur son's is a rare condition as they are very rare and occur in less than 1% of the general population. Brain AVMs are of special concern coz they can cause heavy bleeding in a short time.

BTW, the postmortem can definitely detect if the death was caused by a brain hemorrhage.

where are we heading.... some where even I feel the governance has gone for toss... we just hear all these deaths... but never heard about the closure of these accidents... like punishment, exact reasoning for the death... it gets 100 directions and somewhere gets lost. So, state government should own the blame. How ever, feels a lot for the parents... PU student ... lost in a sec... OMG. But on the other side... investigation should also be done verifying health condition. Might have got an heart attack, or brain hemorrhage... but anything, it should be proved and reported. that's what is lagging now. Hope this case will not stand a mystery for ever like other cases.

in this competitive world everybody putting pressure for children in house as well as schools!!!this is wrong, give them freedom also.why in dharwad there are no PU education? and avoid in keeping your children in hostels, bcoz hostels are the place where children learn bad habits quickly. and feel loneliness. Rathan Saab…. You might have observed that in this grieving time too…few our die hard CONGiss supporters never forgot to press “Disagree” button!!! That’s why people always say in India….it’s entirely depends “what happened to whom” and “ruled by which party”??? And then the gravity of grieving comes out!!!
