Mangaluru, Sep 26: On Monday September 25, police personnel of Kankanadi city police station arrested Rajesh Kumar (22), resident of Janata Colony, Golithottu in Puttur. Rajesh has been accused of promising a lady of marrying her, raping her and then cheating, besides posing murder threat.

It is said that he came close to a lady working for a private firm in the city after getting to know her two years back. He reportedly promised her of marriage and escorted her to his room at Mulihithlu where she was raped. After sometime thereafter, he began to distance himself from the woman and cheated her by refusing to marry her, the woman has claimed.

When the lady's mother contacted Rajesh over phone to question him about his behaviour, he reportedly threatened to cut down her limbs and kill her if they pursue this matter. On the basis of complaint made by the victim's mother, Rajesh was arrested on Monday from Padil here.
