PM targets previous govts, says exchequer was 'destroyed' to win elections

Varanasi, Sep 22 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lashed out at previous governments, saying they seemed to hate development and that the national exchequer was "destroyed" to win elections.

Starting his two-day visit to Varanasi, Modi gifted schemes worth Rs 1,000 crore to his Lok Sabha constituency.

"Pehle aisi sarkarein aa ke gayi jinko vikas sey nafrat jaisa mahaul tha. Unke liye sarkari tijori chunao jitney ke karyakramo mein tabah ho jaati thi (Governments in the past were such that they seemed to hate development. For them, national exchequer was destroyed in the task of winning elections)," he said addressing a public meeting here.

The prime minister, who was speaking after inaugurating several development initiatives, said, "We not only launch but also complete projects." He targeted previous governments, saying they were driven by political calculations, resulting in schemes being inaugurated but never seeing completion.

Asserting that his government's effort was to empower the poor, he said, "Our aim is to see that the dream of development is fulfilled and lives of poor changes and they get opportunities." Modi said even the poor people do not want their future generations to eke out a living like themselves. "No poor person wants to give their children their poverty in inheritance," Modi said.

He said his government shares their dream and is working to realise it. "Our government has a dream to wipe out poverty," he said.

He inaugurated the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul - a trade facilitation centre for handicrafts and crafts museum - constructed at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

Referring to development projects for weavers, who constitute a major chunk of the population in the city, Modi said his government wants their works to be showcased globally so as to enhance their economic prospects. "Our weavers need a global market which will enhance their economic prospects significantly," he said. At the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, Modi evinced keen interest in the wooden and glass products on display and talked to the rural artisans to encourage them.

The prime minister said his government has started initiatives to connect waterways for economic develoment. He also flagged off, via a video link, the Mahamana Express train to connect Varanasi with Vadodara and Surat in Gujarat, his home state. Modi inaugurated banking services of the Utkarsh Bank and unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of foundation stone of the headquarters building of the Bank.

The Utkarsh Bank specializes in micro-finance. The prime minister dedicated a Jal Ambulance (water amublance) service and a 'Jal Shav Vahan' service (water-based vehicle service for ferrying bodies) to the people of Varanasi, through a video link. On the first day of his two-day tour, he is scheduled to visit the historic Tulsi Manas Temple, where he will release a postal stamp on "Ramayana." He will also visit the Durga Mata Temple in the pilgim city.

Indians (actually just 31%) believed all the fake news, and voted the Yale visitors to run the country.

And the result is there for all to see.

But not everybody is a loser.

As reported in media, in his affidavit, Amit Shah's movable assets increased from Rs 1.90 crore in 2012 to Rs 19 crore in 2017.

No foreign governments are interested in India anymore.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) spent Rs 7,965 crore on printing currency notes between July 2016 and June 2017, compared to Rs 3,420 crore in 2015-16, an increase of 133%, according to RBI’s annual report 2016-17.This was highest over the last 17 years, Bloomberg reported on August 30, 2017.
The rise in expenditure was attributed to newly designed notes of higher denominations and the need to replace demonetised currency, the RBI report said. Banknotes were often airlifted from the presses to RBI offices across the country to ensure currency was available after demonetisation, adding to the cost of distribution.
According to estimates by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the cost of demonetisation during the 50-day window till December 30, 2016 (the deadline for converting all your old banknotes into new ones) would be R1.28 lakh crore. Businesses are expected to pay the biggest price of the demonetisation exercise, and the immediate impact could be around R61,500 crore, almost 50% of the total cost of demonetisation, according to CMIE.
The top 10 consumption-related companies have lost more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore of market value since the note ban. While Rs 3 lakh crore bonanza in the form of extinguished black money is still uncertain, the government will have to bear the brunt of Rs 11,000 crore on account of cost of currency printing.
Demonetization and scarce capital availability has led to a 10-50% drop in employee hires in India’s startup ecosystem this year.1.5 Million jobs lost during first four months of 2017, says CMIE
Whether it’s demonetisation or the new cattle trade restrictions, the anti-minority, anti-poor stance couldn’t get more obvious.Modi’s economics has hurt India's growth.
As of now, the cash crunch has turned India into the world’s fastest slowing economy, however, the jury is still out.

It should be recalled that PM Modi always promotes his Navrati fasts, where he avoids food and takes only water and sometimes fruit juices. In September 2014 when he was touring US, he refused to have state dinner hosted by the US President because he was fasting. RTI query reveals PM spent Rs 10 crore on mineral water during Navratri fast.
A RTI petition revealed that the Union government has spent over Rs 1,100 crore in two-and-a-half years on advertisements featuring Modi. The information provided by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry does not include expenditure on platforms like hoardings, posters, booklets and print advertisements.
Narendra Modi has travelled approximately eight-and-a-half times around the globe since assuming the post of Prime Minister of India in 2014.PM Narendra Modi made a total of 54 foreign trips in the first 3 years of his tenure lasting 132 days. He made 9 foreign trips in 2014, 27 in 2015 and 18 in 2016. His trips lasted 32 days in 2014, 64 days in 2015 and 18 days in 2016. Each trip on average lasted 2.5 days. However, the details provided on the PMO website are only up to the year 2016.The foreign trips of Modi and his Cabinet colleagues cost the exchequer Rs 567 crore in the last financial year (2015-16), an increase of more than 80% from the previous year, budget documents show. This is besides the over Rs 500 crore his bureaucrats spend on their travel each year on an average.PM Modi eats mushrooms, found in Himachal, on a daily basis to keep himself active and lively. Interestingly, they cost nearly Rs 30,000/kg.Modi himself had revealed this and he is eating these mushrooms since he was BJP national secretary for party activities in Himachal .
No information on cost of Modi’s wardrobe, says PMO in reply to RTI query.
In Demonetisation Year, PM Modi's 'Cash In Hand' went up rose 67% in financial year 2016-17 PM had around Rs 1.5 lakh in cash as of March 31, 2017
Modi spending is more than state budget allocation.

“Mere pyare deshvasiyon, give me 50 days of pain to deliver the India of your dreams,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, “otherwise punish me at the place of your choice” - and most of India was sold to the utopian idea.
The nation went hysteric at the prospect of being able to sacrifice in what they believed was a chance to take part in a "freedom struggle" against the greedy rich.
People lined up outside ATMs and banks, for hours, days; often returning empty handed when machines ran out of cash; the poor hopeful that black money hoarders were going bankrupt, even as corrupt bankers laundered money.
It was, therefore, with great excitement and confidence that the working class and the poor waited for Modi to share details of the black money banks had collected in 50 days. They were sure he was going to lay bare a balance-sheet, including details such as money spent on printing new notes, and how much more time would be required before the withdrawn equivalent currency would be back in the system. People expected life would soon return to normal.
They also expected the PM to apologise for the bad calculation, for dragging them into utter misery to withdraw and use their own hard earned money. Instead, they got a merry-go-round gobbledygook of “sound and fury” that signified nothing.
Why can’t Modi himself tell the nation right away how much unaccounted assets have been recovered so far; and the total quantifiable cost of implementing demonetisation to the exchequer?
Will he announce compensation to families who lost their breadwinners and the elderly just because he acted upon a daydream balanced on nothing more than an inflated ego?
Mr Modi, now that you have not kept the 50-day promise, we would like to invite you to a "chauraha" of our choice to receive the punishment as we deem fit.
The PM did not keep any of his promises. We must keep the one he made for us.
