Mangaluru, Sep 20: Milagres School, one of the second oldest English medium schools in Mangaluru is going to switch over from state syllabus to central syllabus (CBSE).
In a press meet held at Milagres college auditorium here on Wednesday September 20, Fr Michael Santhumayor briefed about the official inauguration of CBSE pattern in the school.
"We have already started to teach CBSE syllabus to students of 8th standard. But the official inauguration of the switch over to CBSE will be held on Monday, September 25. The programme will start at 10 am and Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, the bishop of Mangaluru diocese will preside over the function.
"Ramanath Rai, minister of forest, environment and district in-charge will be the chief guest. U T Khader, minister of food and public distribution, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Ivan D'Souza, chief whip of Legislative Council, J R Lobo, MLA, Fr Gerald D'Souza, CBSE secretary, Vinay Raj, corporator, Prof Mathew C Ninan will be the guests of honour," he said.
"From last few years students and parents are showing more interest in CBSE syllabus in schools. They are leaving state syllabus and migrating to central schools. We also received a lot of requests from parents to switch over to CBSE. From the last three years, we have lost many students because they are not interested in state syllabus. So we decided to switch over to the central syllabus. We have already started to teach CBSE syllabus. Students are responding very well. We are giving special coaching to the students who are facing difficulties at the start.
"Our admission fee is very low as compared to other CBSE schools in the city. We are giving 25% concession to all girl students studying in our school. Our main motive is to give good education to all," he concluded.
Prathiba Nemiraj, the CBSE administrator said, "In CBSE syllabus, students get more opportunities to learn things independently. A batch of 40 students comes under a teacher and it helps to give them enough attention to students. The central syllabus is more helpful to students for prepare nation level competitive examinations. Besides, we are conducting extracurricular activities which are helpful to students to unearth their talents."
