PM Modi, Shinzo Abe lay foundation stone for bullet train project

Ahmedabad, Sep 14 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe today laid the foundation stone for India's first bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

On the occasion, Abe said the Indo-Japan partnership is special, strategic and global.

"A strong India is in Japan's interest and a strong Japan is in India's interest," Abe said after laying the foundation stone of the project at a ground at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad.

"My good friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a far-sighted leader. He took a decision two years ago to bring high-speed train in India and to create a new India," he said.

"I hope to enjoy the beautiful scenery of India through the windows of the bullet train when I come back here in a few years," Abe said.

The Rs 1.10 lakh crore train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is expected to be completed by 2022. The train would cover the distance of over 500 km in around two hours.Japan has extended a soft loan for the ambitious project conceptualised by Modi.

The project is a joint venture between Indian Railways and Japan's Shinkansen Technology.

The prime ministers of the two countries also laid the foundation stone for an institute that will come up at Vadodara where around 4,000 people will be trained for the bullet train project.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis were present on the occasion.

What India needs are clean, safe, fast (150 kms) and frequent trains going to/from everywhere in the country like many European countries have. Bullet train is just a show unless it is there all across the country like China did within 20 years.

Central Govt train itself derailed & FEKU wants bullet train !

Bhakth Channels are 'live telecasting' Japan PMs India visit from yesterday onwards. They covered his bedroom, dining room, kitchen too...!

Bhakth Channels, to 'cover up Central Govt failure', highlighting Indo-Japan ties like, it will benefit us tremendously in long run & saying "Neighboring China is worried on Indo-Japan deal", "China is finished", bla bla bla....

    @ Bhakthoooon.....
Can Japan export things, what China is exporting to us currently?
Can Japan buy things from India, what China is buying from us currently?

Scratch your brainless head now & think...

China is exporting only 2.5% to India, out of its total export to Rest of the world. So, they can very well absorb that 2.5% or divert it to other countries!

China is sourcing 16% from India, from its total buying from outside world. If they don't get that 16% from us, they can very well source it from other countries as their buying capacity is high.

Now tell us bhakthon, if Indo-China trading is stopped/break-up... who is at losing end???

Is it possible to educate andh-bhakths, who can not see anything beyond FEKU ideology?

Some congi/commi leader has royally fooled you by showing only percentage. The Chinese economy is much bigger than us and any elementary student can tell that our 2.5% is very smaller compared to 2.5% of China.

Just look at the value of that 2.5 % (I know this is also fake percentage, however going as per you) in USD from each side and conclude whether India is gaining or China is gaining with bilateral trade between two countries.

India's trade deficit is between $51 to $53 billion and Chinese are not fools to forgo such free run over us.

India doesn't need bullet trains. We need well managed hospitals, 24 hours oxygen cylinders, standard schools where education is of quality and free, and safety for our school children. Last but not the least make the old trains safe of derailing!
