Murder of 7-yr-old: Acting principal suspended, security staff removed

Gurgaon, Sep 9 (PTI): The acting principal of Ryan International School here was today suspended and all the security staff were removed, a day after a seven-year-old boy was found dead with his throat slit inside a washroom.

Angry parents and locals gathered outside the school premises this morning and staged a protest for over two hours demanding a CBI probe into the gruesome murder while expressing their displeasure over the investigation being carried out by the Gurgaon Police.

They also demanded that the school management be booked for the murder of boy.

"The Ryan International School management has suspended acting principal Neerja Batra and removed all the security staff," District Public Relation Officer R S Sangwan said.

The boy, a Class II student, was allegedly killed by a bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, who also tried to sexually abuse the minor. The accused was arrested hours after the gruesome murder.

Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, Vinay Pratap Singh has also asked District Education Officer Neelam Bhandari to submit a detailed report on the matter by tomorrow.

The post mortem was carried out and the boy's body was handed over to his father, officials said.

The boy's father, Varun Thakur, who works as a quality manager with a private firm in Gurgaon, had accused the school administration of negligence.

The individual who committed this crime is very dangerous. Most pedophiles cannot control their urges to sexually abuse children and must be removed from society. This person has taken it to the next level by indulging in murder.

It is the responsibility of parents, teachers and general public to keep any eye on the people who are in touch with kids. This is an eye opener to all as it is proved now that bus conductor 42 year old tried to abuse him in the bathroom and when the kid refused and tried to runaway he killed the kid as he brought the knife as he pre planned to abuse one and after that to kill. The security personnel failed to frisk him for carrying knife as he was a known person in the school. Moreover, it is very difficult to do any thing if such sick people are in work in school without any history of misdeeds.

It is the responsibility of school to check credentials of all the staff who work with children. Any one applies for a drivers job should not be selected without checking his behavioural habits. In western countries all the staff working with children need to get a Police clearance and hold licence to work with children.
This is an unpardonable mistake by the school management.

I suspected beastism and unfortunately it is true.
This is the tip of the iceberg.
We had to remove our son from a prestigious and age old Christian High School in Bangalore due to similar reasons.
It was a tough economic decision as school was very good in curriculum and facilities.
But I feel lower supporting staff must go through regular brain storming and soul searching sessions.
Also it is important to learn the family history of the workers school appoints and they must be monitored in a way that is practical.
Students must be moved in groups always including their trips to wash rooms.
I am so sad to learn many instances like this where men become absolute beasts.
Gone are the days when mothers used to hand their children to unknown men in lifts, streets and stores to pamper and give back.

Ashok Kumar should get maximum punishment. Let him be from any organisation or any powerful follower behind him.
